The power plant was commissioned in 1953 and uses the 321 metre drop from Børnupvatnet in the Oldereid watercourse down to Misværfjorden. Oldereid power station currently has an installed capacity of 12 MW and a discharge capacity of 4.8 m3/s. The average annual production in recent years has been 65 GWh.

What will now be built is a new surface power station next to the existing station. The new power station will have an installed capacity of 15 MV and a maximum discharge capacity of 5.35 m3/s. Due to the power increase and the fact that the machine is planned to be submerged approx. 1.5 metres, production in the power station will be around 7 GWh higher than today.

For OneCo, the scope of supply consists of:

- Control systems
- Auxiliary systems (110VDC systems, Earthing systems, Lights and plugs, Low current

Design of the facility has begun and the project will be handed over in November 2015
