Møller Bil Asker og Bærum is the first car workshop in Eastern Norway to use a new solution that allows customers to collect and deliver their car 24 hours a day. Autokey is a Norwegian invention and has been trialled at a selection of dealerships in its home town of Bergen. Bjørn Erik Tangen from Møller believes that this will change the way the industry thinks about customer service.
Møller Bil Asker og Bærum is one of the largest car workshops in the country and has over 30,000 cars in for inspection every year. An enthusiastic service market manager, Karstein Holstad, took an immediate liking to the solution as soon as he heard about it, and not long afterwards the Audi and Volkswagen dealer had its new key machine in place.
Autokey is a Norwegian-manufactured key vending machine that enables customers to drop off and pick up their car at any time of the day or night, completely independent of the workshop's opening hours. Both customer notification via SMS and payment via a card reader are handled entirely by the machine.
"What makes the solution special compared to vending machines for other types of goods is that the values to be protected are so large," explains Dag Ivar Roald, CEO of OneCo Products.
To ensure that keys cannot be stolen, they must be stored in a safe inside the workshop, while the vending machine is placed outside where it is accessible to the car owner. The dispenser can therefore best be compared to an ATM in terms of complexity and design. In addition, an order and payment solution has been developed in collaboration with the automotive industry to optimise the customer experience.
"Our customers have been waiting for this and so have we," says a proud CEO of Møller Asker and Bærum, Bjørn Erik Tangen.
The renowned workshop in Billingstad believes that the solution gives them a whole new flexibility in terms of opening hours, and says that customers have reacted very positively.
"The vending machine will be an important element in getting the most satisfied customers, and that's what this is all about," concludes Tangen.
