Green solution for Trollstigen
When the mobile base station at the top of Skarfjellenden (1285 metres above sea level) was to be built to provide coverage along the Trollstigen road, new thinking was required. For conservation reasons, it was not possible to build a power line up to the base station. A solution was therefore chosen in which solar cells and four wind turbines were installed to provide power to the base station. As a back-up, hydrogen and a large battery bank have been installed to power the mobile signals all year round.
